Jacob's First 2 Weeks At Home

Our 1st two weeks at home have gone by quickly. Jacob is eating every 3 hrs still and sleeping alot. I feel like I can't catch up on things though..

I know he looks sick in this picture but its the lighting! I just wanted to remember how small he was in this swing.

Going Home, FINALLY!

After getting the overnight nurse to take his weight after his 6am feeding...Jacob had gained a few ounces since leaving the NICU two days ago. Which means..we get to go HOME!! I am so happy!! Time to finally be a family again..

All ready to go!

Shortly after I got home with Jacob, mom brought home the boys. They were so excited to see their new brother!

Now, time to clean up my house! This is the end of a LONG 10 days..

Visit From Brothers

I am so bored here at the hospital!! Jacob is doing great, eating about every 3 hrs. I still have to give him about 1/2 an ounce in the bottle so we can mix in his iron supplement.
Thankfully daddy came by to keep me company, and later, Grammy and Papa with the boys. I was VERY excited to see my boys!

Rooming In

Last night I went to the hospital for Jacob's 9 pm feeding. I was a little frustrated because after a week of being in the NICU and coming off all his wires and oxygen, I didn't see an end to his stay anytime soon.
I talked with the NP and told her my concerns. Jacob was doing better on nursing, but because I couldn't be there for every feeding it was inconsistent and they have very strict "steps" that a baby needs to master before being discharged. Jacob's only "issue", they said, was that he wasn't eating well enough on his own. So you can see my frustration..
So this morning I came in for his 9 am feeding and was told that we would be rooming in today! Jacob and I will get a room and he will be with me all the time. They want to see how he does with being breastfed exclusively. They want to monitor for 48 hrs and make sure he is gaining weight. Oh just wait and see what this mommy's milk can do!!!

Jacob is very happy to be with his mommy instead of this loud NICU!

Uncle Dan came to see Jacob and brought me dinner.

Sleeping peacefully..

Maybe I can catch a quick nap too??

Meet The Family

This morning we dropped the boys off at bible class and Josh and I went to see Jacob at the hospital. It was the first time we were able to go together, and I was very excited.

After Jacob nursed for several minutes (which is a HUGE success), Josh got to give him his bottle.

After church, Jacob had some visitors. He got to meet his Gigi and Paps..

And his Grammy and Papa.

While the grandparents were visiting we asked about siblings, because the boys still hadn't even met their brother yet. We were told that visitation for siblings was on Saturdays..which we were not made aware of. So they made an exception for us (thank you!) and let the boys come in one at a time, for 5 minutes each. What a blessing!
Isaiah wasn't too sure what to think at this point..(on a side note, Isaiah's haircut is really short! I guess through all the craziness I didn't even realize this when Josh was cutting it!)

That paci is almost as big as his whole face!

Aunt LaLa got to come visit too..she was very excited. Jacob can't wait to meet his little cousin!

First Bottle & First Bath

I came in this morning to find that he had been taken off his oxygen and they moved his feeding tube to his nose to make it easier for him to learn to nurse. This is such exciting news!

We didn't have much success in nursing but I did get to bottle feed him. He kept eye contact with me the whole time..

His nurse said we could try giving him a bath this morning. I was very thankful, seeing as this is his third day of life and he hasn't had one yet! He hated every minute of it!

But he loved getting his hair washed..

All clean!

NICU Days 1 & 2

Our Jacob has spent the first two days of life in the NICU. He has fluid in his lungs as a result of being born prematurely. They have him on oxygen and are giving him fluids through an IV. I have to say that I really didn't think he would be in here very long but its looking like he will be here for probably a week. My sweet boy, its going to be so hard to leave you here..

First time Josh got to hold him, 20 hrs after birth

Jacob Is Here!

Our sweet baby Jacob was born today..weighing 5 lbs 15 oz and 19.5 inches long. He is so beautiful..and so perfect, just as God made him. He is 4.5 weeks early so will be spending some time in the NICU. Hopefully it won't be for too long...
