Carrie Underwood

Back in February, Josh surprised me with tickets to see Carrie Underwood in Austin. I am a HUGE fan of her and love all her songs, with a few exceptions. I couldn't believe it...I would have never guessed he would do something like that! Only catch was it wasn't until May...so I had to wait 3 months before I could enjoy my birthday present. I didn't care! I was so excited!! Time passed pretty quickly and before we knew it, it was May 12.

I dropped the kids off with Tom and Laura to spend the night, since we knew we would be getting back so late. I picked up Josh and we were off. We were really worried about traffic getting to Austin but it didn't take long at all to get there. We stopped for a quick bite to eat and then headed over to the Frank Erwin Center.

I was really anxious to see where our seats were in comparison to the stage. You can check these things out online but it doesn't give you a real clear picture. We get in and our seats are awesome! We are on the second level, FIRST ROW!

After a while of waiting, the show started. I knew beforehand that Sons of Silvia (new band) were opening for her but it was a surprise to also get to see Craig Morgan. Now I'm not really a big fan of him, but I knew some of his songs from the radio...but I was impressed! He put on a great show! It was full of humor and I knew most of the songs he selected to sing. After he sang for about and hour it was time for them to change the stage for Carrie. I knew it was going to be something awesome because the setup behind the curtain was huge. After a fifteen minute break it was time!!

The stage was awesome...they had these curtains on the back (see in the picture) that lifted and there were screens behind them that she had a different background on for each song! I tell you the time, effort, MONEY, and creativity that went into designing this tour was amazing! I will warn you there are alot of pictures, and they are not the best quality, but she was SO good it was hard for me to choose just a few! She sang for about 2 hours, singing literally almost every song on her CDs.

She entered the stage from below, through the hole. So cool!
She opened with "Cowboy Casanova"

I was worried that she was going to wear the coat tale outfit the whole show, but I was wrong. She had 9 costume changes!!

This one was one of my favorites. She came out and sang "Just A Dream". While she sang she sat on the swing and they swung her on the stage. The background and her outfit were definitely my favorite of the night.

Then she started talking about her song writing and how she alone wrote "Temporary Home" and it was one of her favorite songs to sing. I loved this one because this is one of my favorite songs too.

This circular part at the front of the stage did all kinds of cool stuff.

Now this was my absolute favorite part of the show. She goes backstage for a wardrobe change and then comes out singing on the back of this truck, as it is being LIFTED in the air! It went all the way out into the crowd and around the front of her stage. It was awesome!

After that she had her friends from the Sons of Silvia band (who btw I did not enjoy but this one song she sings with them is great) come out and perform the song they sing together.
She also did this cool thing where she came up from below again wearing this gown, which I think was some sort of thing they just put around her. All the lights were off because there were these cool color changing patterns all over her dress. It was neat. Here she sang one of my other favorite songs "Change".

The background matched her dress.

The only slight disappointment was the song she chose to close out the show. I like the song just for some reason it didn't seem like a good song to end on. This was by far the best concert I have ever been to, and I've been blessed to see alot of people in concert. She was amazing and I would go see her again in a heartbeat! Thank you so much to my so thoughtful husband for taking me (she's hot so that helped :))! I love you so much!

Mother's Day With the Zimmers

We celebrated Mother's Day at Shawna's house this year. It was laid back and relaxing...with such GOOD food! The kids were all in great moods which always makes it easier...except poor Isaiah who was having respiratory issues. Here are a few great pics of our day...
Avery..she has such a great smile!
My sweet Isaiah
My wonderful husband
We made mom a frame this year...it turned out SO cute...I'm going to make myself one too!

Isaiah is so into babies right now...he couldn't get enough of Logan. He would look at him and stroke his head and even gave him kisses! He is so SWEET!

God has overfilled my cup with LOVE. I am so blessed to have such a great family but also fantastic boys. I know that it is really hard sometimes but I have to stop and remember what a BLESSING they are in my life. I love those two boys more than anything!

Happy Graduation Mike!

Today Mike graduated from the police academy!! Its been a long 9 months for him, Kristina, and Ellie and today was a day of celebration!

We had a graduation party for him to honor his accomplishment. He graduated 2nd in his class...lots of long nights staying up finishing homework...anything from writing tickets to reports to warrants. He put in a ton of hard work and much studying and it payed off!

It was a fun night and Mike deserved all the praise and love he received! We love you so much!
My sweet niece, Avery...she is so beautiful! Officer Ebrom
(This was on the cake that Ashley made, which, by-the-way, was AWESOME!)

Finger Painting

So today I braved it out and let the boys finger paint for the first time. Yes, I know, I can't believe its their first time either...if you know me at all you would understand why. :)

I was busy making Mother's Day frames for my mom and Josh's mom and had the paint out so, of course, the boys wanted to get in on the action. It actually was a great experience and prepared them for the painting they made me for Mother's Day (which was a surprise later)!

Ethan was very organized about his painting. He was sure to only get one or two fingers dirty (he is his mother's son) but Isaiah was all hands in!

When he first got the paint on his hand it was a weird feeling...
..but he quickly got over that! Check out his plate...all the colors are mixed together!
Ethan's plate still had all the colors seperated...and he used one finger at a time! A son after my own heart!

I love this face! Pure fun!
